March 1st

We have a busy few days of weather ahead, so let’s dive right in!!

AA forecast for March 3.1

Some important details:

Today (Thursday):  Cold showers will reign supreme with sunbreaks at times.  Some showers will be heavy and don’t be surprised to see hail in one or two of the showers.  Snow levels will also be quite low.

Overnight Thursday through Friday morning:  Snow levels lower even more close to the valley floor.  You all may not believe me after last week’s misses, but we have a chance for snow again during this time frame.  So keep a close eye on the forecast as we all know these things can change at the last minute 😉

What is likely:  Slushy snow accumulating on most surfaces except the pavement.  Little side note – the higher and stronger sun angel this time of year makes it tough for snow to stick to the pavement.  Snowier in the hills around and outside of town.

Possible, but less confident about:  Enough snow on the roads to affect school or work.

Moving on…

Saturday:  A few cold showers likely with some wet snowflakes mixed in.  An occasional sunbreak later in the day.

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday:  Looking even drier with only a small chance for later afternoon showers.  If you do get it a shower it would be very brief.  Majority of this time will be dry.

A cold end to February

It’s chilly out there and the cooler than normal temps are here to stay for at least another week…

The look ahead

Into March

Wednesday: Wet and windy most of the day.

Thursday:  Cool with showers around.

Friday:  Another day where we could see some snow flying through the air; however, similar to like last week, it seems unlikely that we see any real accumulations.

Saturday -Monday:  Dry almost this entire period with only a small chance for an isolated shower during the late afternoon hours on both Saturday and Sunday.

Another chilly week

The next 5 days

AA Forecast

Highlights

Monday & Tuesday:  Our two Mostly dry days this week, but still chilly.

Wednesday:  Rainy and windy.

Thursday:  Showers & sunbreaks.  Very low snow levels AGAIN.

Friday:  Still cold with showers possible & low snow levels…

NEXT WEEKEND

AA weekend

  • Basically it’s going to stay colder than normal with showers at times.
  • I put some snowflakes in the forecast; however, at this time I don’t see a good set up for sticking snow here in the cities.   Just our usual snow that melts when it lands sort of deal :/

Don’t let the sun fool you!!

It may be partly cloudy where you’re at today, but don’t let that fool you.  Heavy snow continues to fall up in the mountains.  The first image is of the road leading to Timberline lodge on Mt. Hood, the second image is Santiam Pass.  Both locations have moderate to heavy snow falling.  Another 5 to 10 inches will fall the rest of today.

The Cascades

  • Sunday still looks extremely snowy with another 14 to 18 inches by Monday morning.
  • Monday and Tuesday:  a few snow showers both days, but overall much better conditions if your travels take you into the Cascades.

The Coast Range

  • Highways are temporarily done with accumulating snow and should stay clear through Sunday afternoon.  At some point Sunday early evening the Coast Range will switch back to snow and will stay snowy until Monday morning.
  • Monday and Tuesday:  a few rain and snow showers mixed, but roads should stay clear thanks to our increasing sun angel 🙂

Very Snowy mountains

A super fast update for the mountains.

What you need to know

  • Some of the worse driving conditions all month will be taking place now through Monday morning.
  • Heavy wind driven snow all weekend, so avoid traveling on or through any of the Cascade passes if possible.
  • The Coast Range will turn snowy at times both Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon as our very low snow levels continue!!

Friday evening update

You likely have already noticed, but some very light snow is falling around town at times.  It will not be a travel concern as it’s too warm to stick, but always fun to see.  Wet and breezy weather the rest of the night.

forecast update 2.23.18

Highlights

Showers Saturday

Very rainy Sunday

Rain snow mix possible Sunday evening.  NO major impacts on daily life or travel at this time.  Temps should stay just “mild” enough here in the valley.

More snow for people living up around 1000′ during the next 6 days.

Monday and Tuesday will both be mainly dry with a good deal of sunshine!!

Wednesday, the cold and showers return.
