Big time forecast right here!!!

Did my awesome title pull you into reading this??? 😉

We really do have a big time forecast here for Halloween, and this is my best guess.

6:00am – 2:30pm:  Showers.  Fairly wet.

2:30pm – 5:30pm:  Showers end and we dry out.

5:30pm -10pm:  Mostly dry with an isolated sprinkle possible.

Take away message

If your costume or event requires totally dry weather than you are most likely out of luck if you wish to be outdoorsI believe it will be dry by evening, but a slight shift in the system and the rain will stick around longer.

None of the showers will be real heavy like what we experienced on Monday.  We are looking at lighter rain showers transitioning into sprinkles/mist before coming to an end.

Basically our drying out time will happen late afternoon before outdoor activities commence.

So, if you don’t mind the small possibility of a sprinkle or two than your evening plans will be just fine.

Phew!!!  Okay, I’ve gone through my checklist of maps and charts,  I’ve given myself a nice pep talk, and that is what I see happening.  24 hours from now we will know for certain if I was right, wrong, or partially correct.  I’m just hoping that 24 hours from now I’m not writing another one of those dang apology posts because it poured rain the whole time… lol.

Enjoy your day, watch out for people walking out in the streets, and remember I’m not perfect…….  or even close to it (in case you thought I was), so don’t fire me if I’m wrong 😉

Fall weather

We have had a couple of very active days with over an inch & a half of rain falling between Sunday & Monday, the Cascades picked up a few inches of snow, and 3 very weak tornados were spotted right here in western Oregon.  None of the tornados did any serious damage, but rather crazy weather nevertheless.

Over the next 7 days the best chance for dry weather will be today and then again for much of Saturday.  Final thing to highlight is the increasing likelihood that Sunday will be very wet.

Nov 1

Today:  Lots of clouds, but very little in the way of rain.  Maybe a quick sprinkle.  Nothing more.

Wednesday:  Light rain for much of the day.  This remains a very tricky forecast if you are wanting to know if the evening hours will be dry.  All I know at this point is that the later in the day/evening we go the better chance for dry weather.  When that dry weather moves in exactly I cannot say.  This means Halloween plans could be a little bit damp.

Thursday:  A few light showers.

Friday:  More light rain at times.

Saturday:  Dry most of the day, but will still see some pesky isolated showers here & there.

Sunday:  A very wet day as mentioned above.  Rain, some heavy at times.  With perhaps more than an inch possible.

Monday:  A few showers.

Showers and sunbreaks

Did you enjoy the sound of the rain last night?  We picked up close to .75″ of rain in the past 24 hours.  Pretty wet!!!!

For the rest of today and tomorrow the forecast is fairly straightforward.  Lots of sunbreaks with heavy showers at times and maybe some thunder, lightning, or small hail mixed in.  Very breezy at times as well.  So don’t let the sun fool you, cause more showers are on the way.

Wet weekend ahead!!

It stayed cloudy all day long with on and off sprinkles/light rain.  A fairly typical wet fall day.

We have a much stronger storm coming for this weekend.  I took the liberty of actually viewing the satellite and I see this system is continuing to move quicker than expected.  You can see it out in the Pacific turning and heading our way.

What does this mean?  It means most of Saturday will likely be wet with on and off showers.  Timing is everything in weather, but at some point later tomorrow/tomorrow night we will see a good period of steady, moderate/heavy rain come through along with some stronger winds.

Sunday & Monday will be breezy at times with scattered showers and maybe a rumble of thunder or some small hail.  A stormy weekend for sure!!

The rainy season is upon us

Now that I’m running a weather forecasting website I have to admit that I don’t appreciate the surprise last minute changes in the weather the way that I use to, and yesterday was one of those occasions.  Of course if I had done a more thorough overview of the conditions yesterday I would have noticed the storm was coming in faster than expected.  I’m working on a sort of formula or check list of maps and charts to review/double check before posting new forecasts in the future in order to help improve my accuracy.

Quite a few changes in the forecast for the next several days, and almost all the changes are for wetter conditions…  It looks like our wet season is upon us.

Wetter Oct 1

Today:  Still looking wet at times with generally light rain.

Saturday:  Lots of clouds and a shower or two.  More steady rain towards evening.

Sunday:  Stormy with rain & wind much of the day.  There will be no dry start to the day anymore

Monday:  Showery and cool.

Tuesday:  Big change here with rain at times.

A big and sad change to announce for Wednesday.  This change unfortunately concerns Halloween plans.  It now appears that a storm will be dropping further south Wednesday.  Far enough south that we could see rain much of the day.  It’s possible the rain ends by late afternoon, but we won’t know that until we get closer to the day.  I know many of us have plans the weather could affect which is why I’ll be keeping a very close eye on it with updates to come as the forecast becomes clearer.

Thursday:  Some light rain possible.

End of October outlook

We are nearing the end of the month already.  Can you believe it?!?!?!?  Anyway, I got a nice updated forecast including the outlook for Halloween, and as of right now it’s looking nice and dry for those outdoor activities :O 🙂

Oct 7

Notice I’m sporting a lot of green highlight on this forecast which means I’m fairly confident in what I’ve got up here.  We’ll see how it actually turns out 😉

Wednesday:  Dry the rest of the day

Thursday:  Dry much of the day, but rain will move in slowly from the NW.  If you live further towards Portland or McMinnville you can expect to see the rain sooner than the rest of us.

Friday:  wet much of the day.

Saturday:  a foggy start likely, then dry.

Sunday:  Fog in places.  Rain moving in during the afternoon.

Monday:  showery & cool.

Tuesday & Wednesday:  Foggy mornings possible with dry & partly cloudy afternoons.

Dry weather holding on

First off, sorry about the previous post titled “Vert warm for a few more days.”  I guess a well educated, mature, and handsome (if that matters) adult like myself is still prone to typos every great once in a while 😉  Perhaps I’ll edit it.

Moving on, the biggest difference I see for this coming week is that it’s looking drier than previously thought.  The storm posed to move in late Tuesday is looking weaker and weaker with every new weather model forecast.  Thursday’s storm is looking less rainy/windy as well.  So while it will in fact rain next week, I see that it won’t add up to a whole lot.  Safe to say our dry season this year is not leaving us real fast.
